I’m pleased to be back for another installment of my yet-to-be-titled Friday recap of the things I’ve been obsessing over this past week.
Days are blurring into weeks and weeks are blurring into months. How is it that we’re nearing the end of April already? Whew! At any rate, I hope you’ve had a great week and have a restorative weekend to look forward to.
Marathon Monday was this past Monday, April 17th. The most prestigious marathon in the world takes place on Patriots Day which falls on the third Monday of each April. I had the incredible honor of being able to run this race back in 2015 and haven’t ruled out returning to race it again in the future. It is a really special event that is the epitome of hard work and perseverance. Following the journey of a number of athletes as they trained and then raced Boston definitely lit a bit of a spark… perhaps I’ll take a shot at submitting my qualifying time when registration opens this fall…
Since moving to Los Angeles a year ago, I’ve not had nearly enough time in nature. While I’m grateful for the number of parks sprinkled around the city, it’s just not the same as being deep in the woods, out of cell range and unable to hear emergency response sirens or the incessant honking of horns. I got to escape for a short backpacking trip last weekend and it was heaven. If I could, I’d be heading to a National Park this weekend to take advantage of free admission in conjunction with National Park Week. In fact, a recent addition to my bucket list is to try to visit all of the National Parks.
I recently finished this book after starting it around the beginning of the year. It’s a parody of Maria Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. It was a fun read and actually employs some practical tips for letting yourself off the hook when it comes to subjects you really don’t feel the need to give energy to. It’s helped me identify a number of things that I don’t give a f*ck about including Comic-Con, cosplay, Coachella, wishing people happy birthday on Facebook (I know. I’m a jerk.), labeling diet styles, and luxury cars, to name a few. It’s a good read with some laugh-out-loud moments.
That’s all for now. Have a fantastic weekend!
